The Morro Bay City Council approved a 3 percent raise for its management staff, as well as a 3 percent raise for confidential employees and a 1.5 percent raise for police officers.

The council voted 5-0 on Tuesday to approve the increases, which were considered on the consent agenda and weren’t discussed in open session.

Each of the raises covered a two-year period from July 1, 2014, to June 30, 2016.

The management raise incorporated a deferral of a 0.5 percent increase with the 2013-14 negotiations, a waiver of a deferred 1.5 percent pay increase and a request for a remaining 1 percent to be included in future negotiations.

The total cost to the city for compensation increases, which also included benefit and other increases, was $41,483 for the management staff, $24,851 for the confidential employees and $88,638 for the peace officers.
