The Transportation Security Administration has installed a new, high-tech scanner to check baggage for explosives at San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport.

The scanner replaces a process in which TSA officers opened each checked bag to swab it for traces of explosives.

The new system will screen bags automatically and alert officials if something inside needs a closer look.
