A motorcyclist was killed Sunday afternoon after leaving the road and striking a wooden power pole in Templeton.
At about 1 p.m., the California Highway Patrol reports that Dusty Warren Davis, 38, of San Luis Obispo was riding his 2004 Suzuki motorcycle east on Creston Road approaching the intersection with Neal Springs Road.
It is unknown if Davis attempted a right turn or if he drifted, but at the intersection he lost control of the motorcycle, which slid on its right side across Neal Springs Road. According to the CHP, he then struck a wooden power pole approximately 22 feet east of Neal Springs Road.
Davis was ejected from the motorcycle and landed face down in the dirt. Witnesses to the collision assisted Davis until emergency personnel could arrive.
