Woman falls from Pirate's Cove cliff, Sheriff's Office says

A woman fell 50 feet from a cliff at Pirate’s Cove near Avila Beach on Saturday night, according to the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office. 

Three witnesses told deputies they saw the lone woman walk to the edge of a cliff about 8:15 p.m. and then fall. The woman was found in brush below the cliff’s edge and was rescued by Cal Fire personnel, according to a news release from the Sheriff’s Office. She suffered “serious injuries” and was taken to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center in San Luis Obispo, the news release said. 

The investigation into whether the incident was intentional or an accident is ongoing, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Details about the woman, including her name, were not released.
