Here are some reminders for August:

The weekend of Aug. 22-23 is the annual Car Show sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce. Friday is Cruise Night. Saturday is the show, food, vendors and entertainment.

On Sunday, Aug. 24, the San Miguel Lions will host the annual Old Timers Picnic in San Miguel Park on K Street from noon to 3 p.m. On the Lions Club calendar, the event is listed on the wrong day. This year’s Pioneer Day Royalty is Queen Dottie Reiff and Marshal Ole Viborg.

Two young ladies visited the San Miguel Fire Department recently, bringing a large bag of delicious homemade cookies for volunteer firemen to thank them for their service to the community.

San Miguel Chamber of Commerce joined with chambers from Paso Robles, Templeton and Atascadero to host the annual North County Chamber Mixer. This year the event at Farm Supply on Ramada Drive was very well attended and a lot of fun.

San Miguel farmer Dale Evenson was named Agriculturist of the Year at Farmers and Cattlemen’s Day at the Mid-State Fair this year.

Dale and Suze farm hay, pistachios and some grapes east of San Miguel. He is well known to farmers in the North County as an employee of the Paso Robles Farm Supply store. Congratulations to farmer Evenson!
