A GMC Yukon crashed into a home in Oceano on Monday night, narrowly missing an elderly couple sitting in their living room, the Five Cities Fire Authority said.

About 9:30 p.m., the SUV crashed through the front-yard fence of the home on the 1300 block of 16th Street before it struck a corner of the home and hit the couple’s car, which was pushed into the carport and a neighboring home, according to the fire authority.

Authorities said the driver of the SUV was traveling north on 16th Street when she crossed the center line and drove toward the home. The woman, who officials said is pregnant, was conscious when firefighters arrived on scene; she was later taken to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center in San Luis Obispo.

San Luis Obispo County sheriff’s deputies were reported to be on the scene before the accident happened, but the reason for their presence was not available early Tuesday morning.

The CHP is investigating the incident.
