San Miguel Library has new days and hours

The San Miguel Library now has new hours and a new day, closing on Wednesdays but opening on Saturdays. The new hours will be Tuesday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thursday noon to 6 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Today’s workshop program is “Sea Bird Olympics” with Cara O’Brien. Learn while having fun.

Saturday morning is Cleanup Day in San Miguel.

Items too large for your home garbage cans will be accepted at the CSD/ Fire Department on Mission Street from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. (or until the roll-off is filled). Donations help pay the dump fees.

Please, no hazardous materials, commercial waste, green waste or dirt.

On Thursday, July 17, the Festival Mosaic Orchestra under the direction of Scott Yoo will be in concert at Old Mission San Miguel.

Open rehearsal in the church is from 2 to 5 p.m. and is free to visitors. A Festival Dinner will be held in the Parish Hall behind the Mission from 6 to 7:30 p.m. featuring local cuisine prepared by noted Central Coast chefs, accompanied by wines from Villa San Juliette.

At the recent election of the San Miguel Advisory Council, five directors were re-elected: John McClure, Jean Hoffmann, Sharon Brower, Steve Christian and Dale Hamblin (alternate). The council voted to retain its officeholders, with Mike Sanders as chairman and Craig Rambo as vice chairman.

Plans for the Farmers Market are making progress, however funds must be raised to get started. On Friday, Aug. 8, a fundraiser, “Foodies Paradise,” will be held in San Miguel Park on K Street from 5 to 9 p.m. Vendors are welcome.
