Drivers can expect some delays on Santa Rosa Street in San Luis Obispo, near the park, as workers replace 1,100 feet of aged sewer pipe.

The $521,000 project, awarded to D-KAL Engineering of San Luis Obispo, is expected to be completed in August. Crews are working from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. to minimize traffic impacts. A special siphon system is being used to install the pipe under Stenner Creek so the creek area is not disturbed.

“Most of the pipe in the ground is more than 50 years old,” said Matt Horn, city civil engineer. “We want to be proactive and make sure a spill doesn’t happen.”
