Retiring teacher to be honored at San Miguel school board meeting

The San Miguel School Board will convene Thursday at 5:30 p.m. in the school Library at Lillian Larsen School, 1601 L St., for a special meeting.

At the beginning of the meeting, retiring educator and physical education instructor Eileen Rogers will be recognized for her years of teaching and mentoring students. A reception for her will follow in the library, to which the public is invited.

Members of the board will move to another room to continue their meeting. On the board agenda is discussion of the prospective budget for the 2014-15 school year. It can be viewed on the school website www.sanmiguelschools.org or call 467-3216 for information.

Car show Saturday

The annual Model A and Model T Show at the Rios-Adobe Caledonia, 700 Mission St., will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Admission is free, and food will be sold by the Three Amigos. Musical entertainment will be by Jeff Beaumont and Friends with wine tasting courtesy of Pear Valley Estate Winery. The Museum and Gift Shop will be open. For information, call Joyce Herman at 805-440-7173.

Early gift for Dad

On Sunday from noon to 3 p.m. the Native Sons of the Golden West Parlor #150 invites everyone to a pre-Father’s Day barbecue in the San Miguel Park on K Street between 12th and 13th streets.

They’re serving a beef rib dinner for $15 a plate. Join them for an excellent meal to enjoy there or take home.

An honor for parlor

The San Miguel Parlor was recently named an “Honor Parlor” for increasing membership, with credit to Craig Rambo and Ron Domingos.
