SLO property owners must clear brush by Sunday

San Luis Obispo property owners have until Sunday to clear weeds and other hazardous vegetation or be issued a citation that could cost up to $100 a day.

Fire Marshal Rodger Maggio said clearing vegetation is critically important this year because the prolonged drought in California could lead to a dangerous fire season.

All combustible weeds and dead trees should be cleared and property owners are asked to mow overgrown lawns and clear empty lots of overgrown brush and trash. All mowing of dry grass should be done before 10 a.m. to reduce the potential of igniting a fire. For details, call Maggio at 781-7386.
