Four local women have been recognized for the 37th Women of Distinction awards sponsored by Cuesta College and the Community Foundation San Luis Obispo County’s Legacy Fund.
The awards honor women from the Central Coast for their professional and civic contributions as part of Women’s History Month. The recipients are the following:
Sandy Richardson, founder of Womenade, a nonprofit donating items, time and money for essential needs of those in crisis.
Jeanette Duncan, executive director of Peoples’ Self-Help Housing since 1977.
Barbie Butz, a founding member of the Assistance League of San Luis Obispo County, which serves the needy through philanthropic programs including providing clothes for schoolchildren.
- Helene Finger, director of Cal Poly’s Women’s Engineering Program, which promotes opportunities and retention of female engineering students.
