Kia unveiled its newest vehicle — a full-sized sedan dubbed the K900 — in downtown San Luis Obispo on Wednesday.
Lynne Biddinger, interim director of marketing for the San Luis Obispo Chamber of Commerce, said Kia chose San Luis Obispo because they felt that the city represented the brand image of the new car, which is a higher-end model than typically manufactured by Kia.
James Hope, the manager of product communications for Kia, told Biddinger the car company was looking for a place that was upscale, not stuffy and really embodied "casual elegance.”
Event planners also commended how easy it was to work with the city for the necessary permits and that the back roads leading from Santa Barbara to San Luis Obispo were spectacular for driving, Biddinger said.
