San Miguel students head back to school Monday

School starts again Monday. The next San Miguel School District Board meeting will be held Thursday, Jan. 9, in the Lillian Larsen School library. Open session begins at 6:30 p.m.

At the board’s December meeting, Mary Jo Del Campo was elected board president and Bandy J. Smith, board clerk. This year’s calendar was approved with the April and September meetings to be held at Cappy Culver School at Heritage Ranch.

Out with the old for town cleanup

Town cleanup and Mission Street landscape maintenance day is Saturday, Jan. 11, starting at 8 a.m.

Volunteer firefighters will be collecting items at the firehouse. Donations to cover dumping costs are welcome. Hazardous, commercial and green waste, construction materials and dirt will not be accepted.

They will accept items too large for household cans, furniture and mattresses for a $10 fee, appliances, scrap metals and electronics. The gardeners meet at the Coffee Station, bringing their gloves and necessary tools.

It’s always a busy day and everyone can go home feeling good about a job well done!

Busy Bees bingo beckons Saturday

The San Miguel Mission Busy Bees will host bingo at the Parish Community Building on Saturday. Doors open at 11 a.m. Lunch is available for a nominal fee. The group also hosts bingo on the second Tuesday of each month.
