Monthly cleanup day this Saturday in San Miguel

Saturday morning the volunteer firefighters will host their monthly Town Clean-up Day from 8:30 a.m. until the roll-off is filled. They can’t take hazardous waste, paint, construction debris, green waste or dirt. Donations are greatly appreciated to help pay dumping fees. There is a $10 charge for large household items like furniture and mattresses. They also accept scrap metal and household appliances, small batteries and electronic items. On Saturday the regular downtown Landscape Maintenance sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce will be done from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Meet at the Coffee Station; please bring your own tools and gloves.

New signs at community garden

The San Miguel Community Garden, located on the campus of Lillian Larsen School, is enhanced by two new signs designed, made and donated by Lana Anastasia. The garden was begun as a school project by ag instructor Christina Wilkinson, added to by a large donation of garden boxes from Sunset Savor the Central Coast and is maintained by students and Friends of the Garden.   • San Miguel Collaborative will meet at the CSD office at 7 p.m. Thursday to continue discussion on the draft San Miguel Community Plan.
  • The Mission San Miguel Busy Bees Christmas Arts & Crafts Sale is on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day at the Mission.
  • The Christmas Parade Committee will meet on Nov. 12 at 10 a.m. at the Coffee Station.
