James Voge, commander of the Sheriff’s Office Professional Standards Unit, was given a one-year extension on his contract by supervisors Tuesday.
The contract, approved without comment on the board’s consent agenda, will boost Voge’s pay from $112,944 to $137,280 a year, an approximately 20 percent increase.
Sheriff Ian Parkinson had requested the raise based on Voge’s 33 years with the Los Angeles Police Department’s Internal Affairs Group, and the innovations Voge has brought to the Sheriff’s Office over the past two years.
Parkinson said in a report to the Board of Supervisors that Voge’s expertise “ allows the county to be assured that all incidents are investigated and handled appropriately, limiting the county’s exposure to liability in law enforcement areas ”
