Rideshare Month runs through October with cash and prizes awarded daily to those who log their commute at http://www.rideshare.org.
Three $100 cash prizes are handed out each week in addition to sponsored events that include Carpool Mondays, Transit Tuesdays, Vanpool Thursdays and Bike Fridays.
Rideshare invites commuters to take part in the following events throughout October:
Sign Up and Save
Get six months of free digital access to The Tribune
Every Monday in October, fuel up at certain locations and get $20 toward your gas tank and free coffee if you carpool. Like Rideshare on Facebook and listen to Coast 101.3 to find out where the location is each week.
Ride any bus in the county for free every Tuesday in October. Then get friends to try the bus and reference you at www.ride share.org to get automatically entered to win a $100 cash weekly drawing for each referral. Participating transit operators include RTA, SCAT, SLO Transit, Morro Bay Transit, Atascadero Transit and Paso Express.
Don’t know what a vanpool is? Check out different vanpool services available countywide at vanpool showcases every Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at various locations around the city of San Luis Obispo. There, participants can see what vans are available to rent and understand what it’s like to be the passenger or driver, as well as meet with a representative, ask questions, and see how a vanpool works for them.
Bike Fridays: Fuel up on free Bike Breakfasts and connect with other bicycle commuters before heading to work every Friday from 7 to 9 a.m. Breakfast location and host is different each week:
Friday: Hosted by Rideshare at 1114 Marsh St.
Oct. 12: Hosted by Air Pollution Control District at 3433 Roberto Court.
Oct. 19: Hosted by SLO Bike Club at Morro and Santa Barbara streets.
Oct. 26: Hosted by SLO County Bicycle Coalition at 860 Pacific St.
