SLO County Housing Trust fund holding informational workshop on its loans and services

A local nonprofit that helps with affordable housing throughout the county is inviting developers, nonprofits, government representatives and lenders to an informational workshop on its loans and services.

The San Luis Obispo County Housing Trust Fund has scheduled the event for 3 to 5 p.m. Nov. 7 at its office, 71 Zaca Lane in San Luis Obispo.

The group’s leaders will talk about loan guidelines, rates and terms, the application and review process, and criteria that are used to approve loans.

For more information, visit www.slochtf.org/  workshop.htm  . RSVPs to 543-5970 are encouraged.

The Housing Trust Fund was created in 2003 to increase the supply of affordable housing.

Rather than directly develop or own housing, it provides financing and technical assistance to help private developers and housing sponsors produce and preserve housing that working families, seniors on fixed incomes and people with disabilities can afford to rent or buy.

Since making its first loan in 2005, the Housing Trust Fund has loaned more than $8 million to help create or preserve affordable housing. More than $4 million is available for new loans.

The fund does not lend to individual homeowners or homebuyers.
