Rodeo clown who made racist joke resigns as charter school superintendent

The superintendent of Excelsior Charter School, Michael Hayhurst, has resigned after making an off-color joke while working as a rodeo clown recently in Creston.

Hayhurst, who was in his third year as superintendent of Excelsior, was speaking Sept. 9 at the Creston Classic Rodeo when he made an inappropriate remark about first lady Michelle Obama.
