Drivers can expect intermittent closures of Thompson Avenue between Nipomo High School and Sheehy Road on Thursday, Sept. 13, and Friday, Sept. 14, according to the San Luis Obispo County Department of Public Works.
Public Works said the closures will take place between 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. and could lead to 10-minute delays. Flagmen will direct traffic.
The delays are a result of construction of the Willow Road extension project. The long-awaited road and new interchange, which will open the Nipomo Mesa and Highway 1 to traffic, should be completed by the end of 2012, according to Public Works.
The new configuration also will reduce traffic at the routinely congested Tefft Street off-ramp.
