Transient campfire sparks blaze near Stenner Creek in SLO

The San Luis Obispo City Fire Department responded to a report of a vegetation fire along Stenner Creek near Lincoln Street and Highway 101 in San Luis Obispo early Friday morning to find the fire burning close to nearby homes.

The fire, which burned a 30-foot area of trees and brush, was started by a nearby transient campfire, according to fire officials. Hand tools and a hose were used to extinguish the fire. A battalion chief, three engines and one Cal Fire engine crew responded to the blaze.
