San Luis Obispo has hired a new city clerk.

Maeve Kennedy Grimes was sworn in Aug. 16 but will be formally introduced at the City Council meeting Tuesday.

Grimes previously worked as the county clerk in Clatsop County, Ore., where she ran two recent elections and supervised a staff of five employees. Prior to that she worked for four years as the deputy city clerk and records manager for the city of Santa Barbara.

Grimes replaces Elaina Cano, who served as San Luis Obispo's city clerk for more than two years and as its deputy city clerk for five years before taking the city clerk job in Pismo Beach in April.
