An organization that works to help provide affordable housing has received a $600,000 grant from the federal government.
The Treasury Department grant will help the San Luis Obispo County Housing Trust Fund provide low-income financing for affordable housing for middle-class families.
Jerry Rioux, the housing trust fund’s executive director, said the money will be added to the organization’s revolving loan funds and used to finance affordable housing projects.
He said his organization has loaned $8.4 million to assist in the rental or ownership of 229 units since it began lending in 2005.
