The Charles Paddock Zoo in Atascadero is offering summer camp enrollment for kids in preschool and kindergarten, and those in first through fifth grades.
Above, zoo educator Elizabeth Goodenough holds Walter, a blue-tongued skink from Australia. Looking on are zoo camp participants Ana Soto, 5, and Alex Dahlen, 8. Campers are taught animal facts and allowed to touch some of the animals. There are slots open in next week’s camp, and the zoo has weekend programs during the school year. Summer camps run through Aug. 17. See www.charlespaddockzoo.org for details.
At right, camp participant Madison Chairez, 8, rear, chases cousins Addie Larwood, 8, and Joseph Larwood during an educational game of tag. The “prey” had to pick up cotton balls without getting tagged by the “predator.”
It was only a matter of time before the prey were tagged.
