A San Luis Obispo man found another man dead in his van in downtown San Luis Obispo early Thursday morning.
David Harrell returned to his unlocked vehicle to find an unconscious man inside. He drove the man to French Hospital Medical Center about 3 a.m., only to be told by hospital staff that the man was dead.
Harrell, who is not a suspect, told hospital staff that he tried to wake the man but could not, according to police.
Harrell left the hospital before police arrived, but detectives tracked him down around noon downtown to question him. He was released from the Police Department; police say there is no evidence Harrell was involved in the man’s death.
