SLO Blues fall in extra innings at NBC World Series

The San Luis Obispo Blues lost 1-0 to the Greeley (Colo.) Grays in 10 innings at the National Baseball Congress World Series on Thursday at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium in Wichita, Kan.

Justin Byrd had the game-winning RBI single in the top of the 10th for the Grays, who improved to 2-0 in the double-elimination tournament and will move on in the winners’ bracket.

The Blues — who are 1-1 in Wichita — are now in a do-or-die situation in their first World Series appearance since 2006. Chad Girodo was charged with the loss after striking out four and allowing the game’s lone run in 2 2/3 innings.
