Rabbi Linda Bertenthal has been selected to lead Congregation Beth David in San Luis Obispo starting in August.
She takes the place of Rabbi Scott M. Corngold, 49, who died of a pulmonary embolism in November.
Bertenthal, ordained in 2001 at the Hebrew Union College, worked for the Union for Reform Judaism for 11 years, providing support to various congregations in the western United States.
Before attending rabbinical school, Bertenthal obtained a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Stanford and a juris doctorate degree from the School of Law at Berkeley. She practiced law for 13 years, serving as a legal aid attorney and as a law clerk to a federal district court judge.
