UPDATE July 26: Debbie Markham of Cambria has been notified by ABC that the episode of "Wipeout" she's featured in is now due to air Aug. 16.
Original story: A Cambria woman appears on an all-star episode of ABC’s “Wipeout” television show due to air July 26.
Debbie Markham, a 41-year-old mother and professional photographer, recently taped her second appearance on “Wipeout.” The episode featuring previous winners is scheduled to air at 9 p.m.
In 2010, Markham — dubbed “Sugar Mamma” for her fondness for sweets — won $50,000 for the fastest time through the “Wipeout Zone.”

She has competed in over 50 triathlons and running races over the past 10 years and in May 2011 ran the Boston Marathon in a personal best time of three hours, 31 minutes.
“It was really nerve racking this time since all competitors were winners and seemed younger than myself, but it was incredibly fun,” she said, calling the overall experience “hilariously frustrating and exhilarating.”
A graduate of UCSB in 1992 and co-owner of Artifacts Gallery in Cambria for 13 years after that, Markham is now a professional photographer of weddings, family reunions and sporting teams and writes a blog at www.functionablyhappy.com.
