Democrat U.S. Rep. Lois Capps raised more campaign money in the most recent quarter than her Republican opponent, Abel Maldonado, andhas more cash on hand as the campaign enters mid-summer.
Incumbent Capps, D-Santa Barbara, is seeking to retain her seat in the 24th Congressional District, which includes Santa Barbara and San LuisObispo counties. The election is Nov. 6.
Capps collected $577,531 in the most recent quarter. She said 2,543 donors gave, with 87 percent contributing less than $200. The campaignhas $1,288,370 cash on hand.
Maldonado reported raising $359,000, and his campaign said he has $500,000 cash on hand.
