Work on Cal Poly’s new Center for Science and Mathematics is moving forward, with completion targeted for May 2013.
The latest progress includes the following: Masonry is 70 percent complete; elevators inside are running; interior framing is about 80 percent done; roofing is 75 percent complete; and work on sidewalks, stairs and landscaping will begin in the fall.
Most of the funding for the $119 million project, headed by San Diego-based Gilbane Building Company, came from a state general obligation bond approved by voters. Roughly $18 million is from private funds raised by the university.
