Guadalupe man killed, Arroyo Grande woman injured in Orcutt traffic accident

A 60-year-old Guadalupe man was killed and a 46-year-old Arroyo Grande woman was injured in a traffic accident in Orcutt Sunday afternoon.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the Guadalupe resident was traveling northbound on Highway 101 “at a high rate of speed” when he tried to take the Clark Avenue exit around 5:30 p.m. The man lost control of his 1998 Infinity, veered off the offramp and continued up a dirt embankment toward Clark Avenue.

The Arroyo Grande woman was driving her 1999 Oldsmobile on Clark Avenue, preparing to enter Highway 101 going north, when the man’s airborne Infinity hit the woman’s car broadside.

The man died at the scene and the woman was taken to Marian Medical Center in Santa Maria for treatment of moderate injuries.
