California Arts Council director speaks Friday in SLO

The director of the California Arts Council will speak Friday in San Luis Obispo.

Craig Watson will talk about “the intersection of government, business and the arts” at the San Luis Obispo City-County Library.

“I have seen first-hand the power of the arts to revitalize economically and culturally challenged communities,” Watson said in a news release. Before taking over the state agency last August, Watson held senior executive positions in the telecommunications field and worked for the Arts Council of Sonoma County and Rural Arts Services in northern California. He also served as executive director of the Arts Council For Long Beach.

The free presentation takes place from 3 to 4 p.m. Friday in the library’s community room, 995 Palm St. For more information, call 544-9251 or visit www.artsobispo.org.
