Teenage girl sexually assaulted in San Luis Obispo, police say

A teenage girl was sexually assaulted Tuesday afternoon on the 1400 block of Marsh Street, according to a news release from the San Luis Obispo Police Department.

Police received a call from the victim, who is a minor, at approximately 4 p.m. She said she was entering a business complex when she was approached from the rear by an unknown, unarmed man, who grabbed her around the throat and dragged her to the area surrounding the train tracks. The man sexually assaulted the victim and then demanded her cell phone. He did not rape her, Capt. Chris Staley said.

The man fled on foot after taking her cell phone. The victim suffered minor injuries in the assault and was taken to the hospital.

The victim described the attacker as a white male in his 20s, with a medium build, about 5 feet 7 inches tall, with brown hair and blue eyes. He was wearing a dark brown T-shirt with a logo on it and baggy blue pants.
