Sublime, Cypress Hill to perform in Avila Beach in July

Two of Southern California’s most popular bands of the 1990s — Cypress Hill and Sublime — will perform next month in Avila Beach.

Reggae-rock band Sublime found widespread commercial success in 1996 with the song “What I Got,” released just months after frontman Bradley Nowell’s death.

The band split up the same year, only to re-form in 2009 with singer-guitarist Roman Ramirez at the helm. The new lineup, known as Sublime with Rome, released its debut album “Yours Truly” in 2011.

Grammy Award-nominated hip-hop group Cypress Hill has released eight studio albums over the years, including 1991’s “Cypress Hill,” 1993’s “Black Sunday” and 2010’s “Rise Up.” The band is best known for the hit singles “Insane in the Brain” and “Throw Your Set in the Air.”

Cypress Hill and Sublime with Rome will be joined onstage by Hawaiian reggae-rock duo Pepper.

Tickets for the all-ages concert, July 24 at the Avila Beach Golf Resort in Avila Beach, are $35.
