UPDATE 4 P.M. SUNDAY: A Ventura County man was killed and three other people were hurt after a pickup truck veered off the road, rolled over and crashed into several trees near Nacimiento Lake north of Paso Robles Saturday evening, according to the California Highway Patrol.
About 6:30 p.m., the driver of a 1989 Ford F250 pickup lost control of his vehicle as it went down a hill along Gage Irving Drive in the Running Deer Ranch area south of the lake, according to a CHP press release issued on Sunday.
The CHP says it doesn't know why he lost control of the truck.
The pickup went through a field before rolling over and became airborne as it went down a 10-foot-high nearly vertical embankment, and then landed back on the road, the CHP said. The truck reportedly rolled over across the road and then struck several trees.
