The Shandon rest stop along Highway 46 east of Paso Robles has won an award as “rest area project of the year,” the California Transportation Foundation has announced.
The foundation honored the Shandon stop along with nominees in 16 other categories, including freeway and interchange projects of the year and elected official of the year.
The Shandon project was the only one in San Luis Obispo County to take a trophy.
The foundation’s awards “recognize excellence in California transportation, all modes, public and private sector, and from all regions of the state,” according to the foundation.
