UPDATE: 17-year-old boy allegedly stabs 24-year-old man in San Luis Obispo

Sheriff’s detectives spent Saturday investigating a stabbing that happened late Friday in which a 17-year-old boy attacked a 24-year-old man at a home in the 1000 block of Hidden Springs Road just outside San Luis Obispo city limits.

The victim, whose name was not released, was taken to a hospital with stab wounds, where he was being treated and remained in critical condition Saturday evening. Officials did not identify the hospital.

Kings County sheriff’s deputies located the suspect somewhere off Highway 41 between Cholame and Kettleman City.

The teen, who was not identified, was walking a short distance from the victim’s stolen vehicle. He was arrested without incident, transported back to San Luis Obispo County and booked into the Juvenile Services Center on suspicion of attempted murder and burglary.

Sheriff’s Sgt. Michael Manuele said the victim called 911 at 11:48 p.m. on Friday to report that he had encountered the juvenile in his home and they got into a fight.

The 17-year-old stabbed the man in his upper torso, then fled the home.

When deputies arrived, the victim had already been taken to the hospital.

Drops of blood were visible outside the home, which is on a semi-rural road that features homes on large lots just south of the San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport.

After the initial investigation, deputies were able to identify the suspect and issue an alert to other law enforcement agencies in the Central Coast region.

Manuele said he could not yet explain whether the victim and suspect knew each other. But the sergeant said detectives believe there are no other suspects.
