Hauling away old furniture, appliances and junk cars from Shandon will be the focus of a free cleanup event Saturday.
From 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., local trash collecting and tow truck companies will volunteer to toss people’s junk in the event organized with San Luis Obispo County Code Enforcement.
Residents are encouraged to take advantage of the one-day event to avoid code enforcement fines in the future, according to a county press release.
Those interested can bring their junk, yard waste and metal scraps to the former Boyer’s Garage property on the east end of Centre Street. To arrange the disposal of a vehicle, call Code Enforcement Supervisor Art Trinidade at 781-5705. Towing is free if the car is in or just outside of town, officials said.
