IHOP restaurants are giving away free pancakes Tuesday to celebrate National Pancake Day and to raise money for charity.
From 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., more than 1,500 IHOP restaurants — including the San Luis Obispo location — will serve up a short stack of buttermilk pancakes to each customer, according to a news release.
Locally, the giveaway aims to raise money for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals’ program at Cottage Children's Hospital in Santa Barbara. Customers are encouraged to make a voluntary donation in return for the free pancakes.
IHOP's National Pancake Day effort has raised nearly $8 million since 2006. Last year, IHOP served more than 4 million free pancakes and raised more than $2.5 million in support of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and other local charities.
