Solar panels are being installed at four San Luis Coastal Unified schools in a partnership with SunEdison to reduce the school district’s energy costs.
The panels are being used at San Luis Obispo and Morro Bay high schools and Laguna and Los Osos middle schools. The district expects the panels to be operational by the end of May.
“The school board is very pleased to be leading the way; this is one of the largest installations in the county,” said Brad Parker, consultant on the project.
The district will pay less for energy at those schools and save additional money for unused energy on peak days when the schools use less energy, such as during the summer.
