Photos: New science and math building at Cal Poly is taking shape

Construction is running ahead of schedule on Cal Poly's new state-of-the-art Center for Science and Mathematics, which is taking shape in the heart of campus.

The six-story, $132 million facility is slated to open in May 2013 and will house lecture halls, labs, classrooms and faculty offices. The building was funded by state bonds and more than $20 million in private donations.

Among the architectural highlights are two open atriums on the second floor that cut through the four floors above and are topped by skylights.

Every student at Cal Poly will take at least one course or one lab in the center, according to Phil Bailey, dean of the College of Science and Math. Click here for more photos of the construction »
