An Atascadero man is recovering in the hospital after being stabbed multiple times in San Luis Obispo just after midnight Friday.
Officers were called to the 1000 block of Broad Street at 12:07 a.m. after someone was seen lying in the street, according to a news release from the San Luis Obispo Police Department.
Officers found Trevor Wade Tice, 26, covered in a large amount of blood coming from multiple stab wounds to his upper body. Medics were called and administered treatment, according to police. He was taken to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center and treated for his injuries, which were not at the time thought to be life threatening.
Investigators said the stabbing appears to have occurred near the southeast corner of Broad and Monterey streets, according to the news release. Prior to the stabbing, Tice and a friend were involved in a physical fight with several other people, officers said, which may have occurred on the sidewalk and spilled into the street.
The friend with Tice, 26-year-old Atascadero resident Zachary Lerno, was hit during the fight and received a head injury, according to police. Lerno left the area before officers arrived and did not received treatment for his injuries.
There are no suspects in the stabbing, according to police. Anyone with information regarding this assault is urged to contact the police department at 781-7317.
