Get free advice on disaster preparedness Saturday in Pismo Beach

Learn how to prepare for a disaster at a free event planned for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at New Life Community Church, 990 James Way in Pismo Beach.

The second annual Disaster Preparedness Day will include talks on a range of topics, including how to help your family and others during a fire, flood or earthquake. Sessions will be presented by local emergency response agencies such as the San Luis Obispo County Office of Emergency Services, American Red Cross, county Mental Health Services and Cal Fire.

Lunches consisting of a hot dog, chips and soda will be available for a minimum $3 donation per person, with proceeds going to support the 5 Cities Homeless Coalition. For more information on the event, contact Nancy Imwold at nimwold@newlifepismo.com or 489-3254, ext. 213.
