A man lost his arm when he was struck by an Amtrak train in Oceano just after 5 p.m. Friday, according to a spokesman for Union Pacific Railroad, which owns the tracks.
It appears the man had trespassed and was walking along the tracks a distance from the nearest crossing, the spokesman said.
The man was taken to Arroyo Grande Community Hospital for treatment.
The incident is under investigation by the railroad.
