Morro Bay High football coach John Andree announced this afternoon that he is stepping down after 15 seasons leading the Pirates.
Andree, who didn't rule out a return to coaching in the future, said he will remain as the school's athletic director. He expressed a desire to spend more time with his family, particularly watching and coaching his two sons in their sporting activities, as the reason for his resignation.
Andree led Morro Bay to 11 playoff berths in 15 seasons as head coach. He won Los Padres League championships in 1998 and 2007 and had a 92-78 record with the Pirates. Before he arrived at Morro Bay, the school had won only 106 football games from 1959-96.
