UPDATE 7:15 p.m.: The car that hit the McDonald's restaurant was driven by Verna Gladstone, 85, of Pismo Beach, according to a news release from San Luis Obispo police.
Heading west on Madonna Road, Gladstone was preparing to turn left into the parking lot when she apparently lost control of her car, police said, and broadsided a vehicle traveling east on Madonna.
Gladstone's Honda rolled into the McDonald's restaurant, ending up on its roof. Her car suffered major damage in the crash, police said. The McDonald's building sustained broken windows and minor structural damage, according to police.
Gladstone was removed from her car by San Luis Obispo city firefighters and taken to French Hospital Medical Center. She appeared to suffer minor injuries, police said.

Original story: A red Honda Civic crashed into the McDonald’s restaurant on Madonna Road about 5:30 p.m.
San Luis Obispo Police Department Lt. Bill Proll said emergency crews were called to the scene and pulled the driver from the mangled vehicle.
She appeared to suffer minor injuries, complaining of pain to her ribs while en route to a local hospital, according to radio dispatches from medics.
“The car rolled over and partially went into the building,” Proll said. “That’s all we know right now but investigators are at the location and we should know more shortly.”
