Marine Mammal Center of Morro Bay looking for volunteers

Volunteers are needed to help rescue, rehabilitate and release marine mammals back into the wild, on behalf of the Marine Mammal Center Morro Bay triage center.

The Marine Mammal Center will host a meet-and-greet introduction meeting from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Jan. 11 at the Morro Bay Community Center, 1001 Kennedy Way, Morro Bay. For details, call 771-8302 or go to http://www.marinemammalcenter.org.

Rescues are performed along the San Luis Obispo County coastline, but many of them happen on North Coast shores, especially during pupping and weaning seasons.

Injured, sick or malnourished animals frequently are stabilized at the Morro Bay center before being transported to the main clinic in Sausalito.
