Another Atascadero State Hospital employee was attacked this week after a patient assaulted a psychiatric technician Thursday afternoon, ASH spokesman Craig Dacus confirmed.
It marked the third staff attack at the hospital since Tuesday.
At 2:45 p.m. Thursday, staff responded to the attack, which left an employee in need of first aid, Dacus said. The employee, whose name was not disclosed, returned to work following the incident.
Few details were released, including what the employee’s injuries were or where in the hospital the assault took place.
Information on whether the patient was arrested or will face charges wasn’t available. The investigation is ongoing, Dacus said.
The other attacks this week involved an employee who was assaulted Tuesday, followed by a second attack Thursday that could result in charges of felony assault with a deadly weapon.
ASH is a high-security state hospital located in southeast Atascadero that treats mentally ill inmates from the correctional system and other violent offenders.
