Reward increased for tips on drive-by shooting that killed Oceano teen

A reward for information about a drive-by shooting in Oceano in mid-November that killed a 17-year-old boy has been increased to $5,000.

Gabriel Salgado was standing in the 1700 block of 21st Street about 6:40 p.m. on Nov. 17 when someone fired multiple shots from the passenger side of a vehicle heading south.

He died the next morning at Marian Medical Center in Santa Maria. No arrests have been made.

Originally, a $1,000 reward was offered by San Luis Obispo County Crime Stoppers, but was increased today to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those involved in the shooting.

In a news release, Sheriff’s Investigations Cmdr. Ron Hastie said: “We need to develop more leads in this case, and Crime Stoppers has stepped up to help.”
