A local company will handle two paving projects for the Atascadero Unified School District this winter.
On Tuesday, Atascadero Unified School District Board of Trustees approved the contracts with Michael Fredericks Paving Corp.
The district will pay the Atascadero business more than $151,000 to demolish, re-grade and pave the parking lot at district headquarters, 5601 West Mall Road. It will also replace an adjacent curb.
Michael Fredericks will receive an additional $57,611 for projects at Carissa Plains Elementary School, including resurfacing the parking lot, and playground and replacing a concrete ramp.

Work is expected to be completed over winter break, Dec. 23 through Jan. 6.
Also Tuesday, the school board approved a contract with program management consulting firm Kitchell CEM Inc., which has offices in Berkeley, Del Mar, Sacramento and Phoenix.
Starting in July, the firm will provide Atascadero Unified with a full-time program manager to oversee school improvement projects over two years. The final cost is not to exceed $994,740.
All three contracts will be paid for with funds from the $117 million bond measure approved by voters in November 2010.
