UPDATE: 2 hurt when cars crash near Paso Robles High School

UPDATE 1 p.m.: The Paso Robles Fire Department has released more details about a crash near Paso Robles High School this morning.

Two people were taken to Twin Cities Community Hospital after suffering minor injuries, said department Battalion Chief Kevin Taylor.

A Chrysler minivan rear-ended an SUV, Taylor said, and a fire erupted in the engine compartment of the Chrysler. Fire department officials responded to the scene and put out the fire. The fire didn’t spread beyond the van, Taylor said.

A 50-year-old woman and a 9-year-old boy in the minivan were taken to the hospital, Taylor said. A 32-year-old woman driving the SUV wasn’t hurt, Taylor said.

Original story: Two cars collided this morning on Niblick Road near Paso Robles High School, and one person was taken to Twin Cities Community Hospital in Templeton, according to the Paso Robles Police Department.

The crash involving a Chrysler and a GMC vehicle took place at 7:38 a.m. on the 800 block of Niblick, said Lt. Ty Lewis.

Lewis said he didn’t know yet how serious the person's injuries were.

A fire resulted from the wreck. Officials from the Paso Robles Fire Department didn’t have any immediate information about the fire or the crash.
